Mondo Rosa Shokking is a cool fashion, art, music & culture webzine in Italy, and they interviewed me for their “Shokking Pink” female DJ section. I am honored to be in the company of fellow interviewees including Miss Kittin, DJ Rap, Heather, Colette & Lisa Lashes.

March 3, 2011-We Love Venice “Event of the Week: Chicks with Decks This Friday at Area 33 & Exclusive Interview with DJ Syrena” by Gina Calderoni. Interview Highlights: Chicks with Decks has quickly shown to be one of the favorite monthlies in the LA UG music scene. WeLo was fortunate enough to sit down with DJ SYRENA, a recurring resident of CWD. WeLo: People associate Djing with partying, but tell us something about it that we would never know. DJ Syrena: The act of dancing has always been a source of therapy for me, I can really work out a lot of stress and issues just by losing myself in the music, while simultaneously finding myself again. I guess that is why I am compelled to be involved on the other side of it, to give back and share in the common human experience of celebrating life. WeLo: We LOVE to dance! How about your road to production, has it been a long one?! DJ Syrena: It’s been a long one. I’ve been educating myself in every aspect from the software, engineering, recording, writing and vocals. Last year saw my 1st official remix released on Playloop Records, and now working with a UK artist to release some co-productions this summer, in addition to my ongoing solo work.
February 2011 Issue-ANGELENO MAGAZINE “About Town”-FALLING WHISTLES – HUMAN RIGHTS DAY, Tufenkian Showroom. A Human Rights Day Celebration to benefit Falling Whistles, an LA-based nonprofit organization working toward peace in D.R. Congo. Tufenkian’s Melrose Ave. showroom, was transformed by Gather Events & Occasions into an experiential space filled with a pop-up photo studio, a screening room showing “Peace is the New Frontier” and “Collective Rights”, a human rights awareness statement. A silent auction gallery run by Presence Entertainment with gifts from John Varvatos, The Four Seasons, Ted Baker & Catherine Malandrino. We were overwhelmed with entries but unfortunately were only allowed to pick three to move on to the finale next week in LA. January 2004-ELLEgirl Parties in the O.C.! ELLEgirl, Neutrogena and DKNY Jeans escaped the east coast blizzard and celebrated our holiday issue and gorgeous cover girl-Mischa Barton from The O.C. The Orange County Museum of Art played host to over 500 fabulous guests, who were entertained by a duo of female power players. Female-fronted Matador artists Pretty Girls Make Graves rocked out in the bronze sculpture garden while DJ Syrena kept revelers grooving in the gallery until the lights came on.
